Hollywood actor Cody Walker received the 2014 Posthumous Humanitarian Award on behalf of his late brother Paul Walker in recognition of Paul Walker’s great work in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake.

Celebrating one’s culture goes to the heart of self-esteem for any community, and especially where it concerns its children. It’s one of the reasons YoFES produces each summer a signature showcase of Haiti culture it calls YoFestival Produced in partnership with Boston’s Consulate General of Haiti and a host of other organizations, YoFestival celebrates all-things-Haiti for those who call Greater Boston ‘home.

With an eye toward promoting the island republic’s history and culture, YoFestival features competitions in singing, creative writing, short essays and poetry, painting and drawing, and native clothing and costumes. It is an opportunity to pass the country’s glorious history and culture from one generation to the next.

The 10-day festival offers a rare opportunity to promote dialogue between filmmakers and the audience in an intimate setting. Discover Roxbury’s Annual Fundraiser “The Black and White”

The Black & White Party has served as Discover Roxbury’s annual fundraiser specifically formed to support local artists and advance arts education and programming in Roxbury, Massachusetts.   Net proceeds from the event directly fund the operations of Roxbury Open Studios, the ArtROX! Hub, and other events in the ArtROX! series.

An event to show honor and respect to our elders and a moment to commemorate the January 12th, 2010 Earthquake!  Youth and Family Enrichment Services, Inc. (YOFES) in collaboration with the Haitian Mental Health Network, The Haitian Health Institute, Sant Bel Vi, Sant Grandet at The Church of the Holy Spirit, and the Consulat General de La Republique D’Haiti at Roxbury Community College.

American’s Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration

America’s Hometown, where Thanksgiving began !!!!!

The 18th Annual America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration was held at the birthplace of Thanksgiving, Plymouth, Massachusetts.  The weekend of festivities has become a beloved holiday occasion as well as an important link to our nation’s history and heritage. For 18 years, hundreds of thousands of people from all walks of life have traveled to the historic Plymouth Harbor and Waterfront to experience a bounty of authentic Americana. The celebration of Thanksgiving becomes history-brought-to-life as Pilgrims, Native Americans, Soldiers, Patriots, and Pioneers proudly climb out of the history books and onto the streets of Plymouth.
